New champions wanted
Final showdown of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Central Europe (PSCCE) next weekend (4/5 September) in the Czech Republic. Which drivers will secure the 2021 championship titles at the Autodrom Most?
- GT3: Max Werndl only two points ahead of Freddy Fast
- GT4: Frederick Jerich and Jonas Greif tied on points
- Team classification: Keep It Gold Racing ahead of Triumph
When the pitlane opens at the Autodrom Most on Saturday morning, the decisive races of this season are about to begin. Lechner Racing’s Porsche Sprint Challenge Central Europe is entering the home straight after four race weekends. In the third year of the Porsche one-make cup, the Autodrom Most will again be the venue for the fifth and final race of the season. Around 100 kilometres north-west of the Czech capital Prague, the 4.2-kilometre racetrack is the perfect arena for the final showdown. The Autodrom Most is not only popular with motorcyclists but has recently put itself in the international spotlight with the Truck Grand Prix, the ADAC GT Masters and other automotive events.
The Sprints
The situation in the PSCCE championship rankings before the decisive races on Saturday promises a very exciting event. In the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport classification, Frederick Jerich (AUT) and Jonas Greif (GER, Junior Team Central Europe) will go into the final sprint race of the year tied on points. The two youngsters will not share the title, however, as this is the first time this season, they are competing against each other in the same sprint race. The calculation is simple: Whoever is in front is the champion and thus a worthy successor to Eddy Waldhier (GER). It is almost impossible to catch Franz Dziwok (POL, FA1 Racing) and Tomasz Lach (POL, LAVA Racing) in the ProAM and AM classifications, respectively.
This year for the first time trophies will be awarded in the new GT3 class. The 500-horse-power Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars have shown in the races so far that they are a valuable addition to the Porsche Sprint Challenge Central Europe and an attractive offer for both more experienced drivers and youngsters. In the overall standings, Alex Ellinger (AUT, Autopark Wien) recently played an important role at the Hungaroring. Ellinger ended Freddy Fast’s (AUT) winning streak with a victory. Because Fast’s „Keep It Gold Racing“ teammate Max Werndl (GER) took the full points score again in the second race, the German-Austrian duo is now separated by two points. Freddy Kremer is in third place, six points ahead of Markus Seldmaier (both GER, Kremer Racing). With Patryk Krupinski (POL, JP Motorsport), Robert Sulma (CZE, 911Excellence) and Markus Maier (GER, Maier Racing), three guest starters are also in the mix in the Czech Republic.
The Endurance
After dominating victories in all four endurance races this year, Freddy Fast and Max Werndl (Keep It Gold Racing) in their golden nine-eleven Porsche can only be ousted from the top spot by a big slip-up. They are followed by Kremer and Sedlmaier (Kremer Racing) in the overall classification. The GT4 class offers the more exciting starting point: Frederick Jerich and team-mate Jonas Greif (Junior Team Central Europe) have both collected 94 points, the same amount as Franz Dziwok (FA1 Racing), who also has 94 points to his name after two wins in Poland and Hungary (together with Austrian Florian Janits). With another teammate, GT4 ace Lennard Marionek (GER), Dziwok will try to make the decisive move for the prestigious Endurance title in Most. Currently best AM driver in the endurance classification is Klaus Bönighausen (GER, baederprofis.de).
